Your Health Policy Might Be Lying to You.

Your Health Policy Might Be Lying to You.

I was reading this morning about an article where most people don't realize until it is too late and this is about health insurance porting.

You know how we are always instructed, “Switch” if your insurer isn't serving you well? That's actually a sensible one. Idea is when you port, your years of waiting periods and no-claim bonuses travel with you to the new insurer. Hence, you do not start from scratch. Think of it like carrying your Work experience points on your resume.

But at times this is where it goes wrong. Some agents sell you a “fresh” policy while calling it a port. On paper everything looks fine. But in reality, your clock resets to zero and you only find out when a claim gets rejected.

So next time someone suggests porting your policy, just ask one simple question — "Will you give me this in writing as a port, not a fresh policy?" That one question can save you a lot of misguidances, grief.

Anyway, just thought you should know.
