Does a Portfolio need an SIF?

Does a Portfolio need an SIF?

AMFI Registered Mutual Fund Distributor | ARN-336150

Filling a Gap or Growing Up?

A portfolio doesn’t become mature simply by becoming more complex.

You know that moment when a portfolio has grown and simple investments suddenly begin to feel a little too simple? It can create a quiet urge to add something more specialised.

Maybe an SIF. Maybe another sophisticated strategy.

But I would ask what gap I am actually trying to close. Is there an exposure I genuinely need? A risk I am trying to manage? A role my existing portfolio cannot perform? Or do I simply feel that a larger portfolio should look more complicated?

Complexity can be useful when it has a job. Without one, it may only give us more things to monitor, explain and eventually reconsider.

A mature portfolio is not necessarily the one with the most interesting products. It may be the one where every piece has a reason to exist.

Before adding something new, I would ask - What problem disappears because this investment is here?

If the answer is unclear, perhaps the gap isn’t real.
